Inlaid 22k gold with 24k gold wires
Artist Shirley Matteson designs and creates fine silver jewelry using the ancient Cloissone technique. Here, she created 'Blessing', a gorgeous fine silver swallowtail butterfly necklace inlaid with 22K gold for a breathtaking effect.
Taking inspiration from butterflies of all colors, Shirley created a gorgeous, gold swallowtail butterfly necklace named 'Blessing'. Black enamel around the edges shows off the 22K gold inlay and the tiny gold wires that are used in the Cloissoné jewel making process. What we end up with is a luminous small gold butterfly necklace that's sure to sparkle and shine.
The Cloisonné Technique
Shirley uses an ancient French technique called 'Cloissoné,' to create this luminous small butterfly pendant necklace. First, she painstakingly inlays 22K gold into the butterfly shape, then she bends tiny wires to form the structural of the butterfly's wings. Then, she fills in the shapes with a black body and edging, and the remainder is filled with a transparent enamel. What emerges after firing is a truly stunning piece that will definitely stand out and be noticed.
Shirley's butterfly jewelry comes with a rosewood box, storage pouch, and sterling silver chain. Be sure to let her know at checkout if you prefer a 16-inch or 18-inch chain. When you're not showing off your fabulous necklace, keep her in her silvercloth pouch so she won't get tarnished.
If you prefer, Shirley's butterfly necklaces can also be made entirely in gold, instead of inlaid in silver.
