Shirley’s Collection of Butterfly Necklaces

Butterflies are one of Shirley’s favorite things to create. She’s so inspired by all of the different colors and patterns of butterflies that are found in nature. One of her favorites is the iconic Monarch Butterfly, but she has designed butterflies in all the colors of the rainbow, including the rainbow itself!  You can choose from purple, red, yellow, green, or blue tones, or pick your favorite pattern from rainbow, tigers eye, or even a peacock butterfly necklace!

What’s the difference between our inlaid gold and solid gold butterfly pendants? Both are inlaid with gold and use tiny 24k gold wires to create the butterfly design. And both are edged in black enamel to set off the brilliance of the gold. They are even available in the same sizes. The difference is that the original inlaid gold butterflies are set into a fine silver backing, and come with a silver chain. However, the newer solid gold butterfly pendants are set entirely in gold and come with a gold chain. 

NEW: Now these gorgeous butterfly jewels are also available as lapel decor (similar to a lapel pin, but using a magnet instead of an actual pin).

Each of these smaller butterflies is made with the same care and craft as its larger sibling. Every butterfly jewel is made using the ancient Cloisonne technique of fine jewelry making. Cloissone is a French way of creating colorful enamel designs that are held in place by tiny 24k wires. This technique, while very difficult to master, allows the artist to create one of a kind, luminous jewels. The 24k wires add depth and texture (and a little extra sparkle) to the glow of the enamel colors.
